The Inner Islands is the name given to loosely define the known lands close to the continent of Perfection. "Close" is a relative term, of course, depending as much on prevailing wind, currents and hostile sea powers as actual proximity.

The Inner Islands are similar in general geography to the Inner Continent - ranging from temperate to sub-tropical. Since Conclave is a world governed by magic rather than physics, some islands have anomolous conditions brought about by the actions of a local spirit. For example, it would not be impossible to find a frozen land ruled by a wintry demi-god.

Size-wise, the Inner Islands vary considerably, but the island nations of Great Britain, New Zealand and Japan can be used to give some indication of the upper range. They are amply large enough for several societies to exist, in harmony or conflict. On the other hand, political systems are complex enough to allow unification. Many of the lands in the southern part of the world have been influenced by the Empire of Splendour in one form or another, either directly as a conquered land,or indirectly as neighbours.

Denralia
"Denralia" is the Imperial designation for this large land, based upon a corruption of the name of a local human culture, the Denra-Lyr. The Denra-Lyr are an emerging culture, caught between progressives who wish to embrace the Imperial way, and conservatives who shun pollution of their culture.

Sharing the island with the Denra-Lyr are the non-human Salsham'ai, known colloquially as Tree Folk. These small arboreal folk are spiritual and peaceful unless harassed. They managed to fight the Empire to a standstill by guerilla warfare and thus won a semi-independent status for their tree-top villages.

The Island of Or
Or is a land where many human races co-exist. Long ago they were brought together by a supernatural entity called the Shao. The Shao was destroyed by magicians from the Empire, thus removing Or's protector and destroying the very fabric of Orrian life. Magic on Or no longer flows freely, but is bound up in rocks, water and plants. The Orrians use alchemy to extract it, and have since become technologically quite advanced.

The Empire of Fon
As Empires go, Fon is a small nation, consisting of four islands in an archipelago. Fon has a strong centralist government who control virtually all matters of society, from employment to furnishing your house. The people of Fon are great experimenters with magic, and there are many strange forms practised there that are seen nowhere else.

The Moa-Ruaki
The Moa-Ruaki have no island that they call home. They are waterborne nomads who travel the seas in small flotillas of wooden boats. They are materially poor, but expert craftsmen at boat-building. Many smaller islands are claimed as holy places by them.

Gloppies
"Gloppies" is a term used to describe a wide variety of aquatic "fish" people. It comes from a sound that they make - their language consists of clicks, pops and whistles and is impossible for humans to reproduce. Although most land-dwellers think of gloppies as being of one species, there are many different kinds. Some are able to walk on land, and come ashore on secluded beaches to mate and lay eggs. Others wander the seas, bound to gigantic anemone creatures. There are even some who live in the darkest depths of the ocean.

The Shelled Ones
Again this is a human term for marauding crab-like creatures that plague coastal villages. These violent creatures, the only contact most humans have had with the Shelled Ones, are in fact magically created warriors who are used to defend Shelled One communities. If left alone, these creatures are quite peaceful, serving their Queen-Spirits with magical rituals.
